Lady Bobcats improve to 16-1, sit atop South

ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) _ Jones College young Jones’ ladies packed quite the potent punch Thursday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.

Freshman guards Keyara Jones and Jatyjia Jones combined for 32 points as the sixth-ranked Lady Bobcats won their 14th consecutive game with an 80-48 victory over Meridian Community College to remain undefeated and atop the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges’ South Division.

Keyara Jones hit four buckets from 3-point range on her way to scoring 20 points, while Jatyjia Jones finished with 12 points. Sophomore forward Vilma Covine added 10.

JC (16-1, 8-0) led 33-25 at halftime before breaking open the game with a 17-0 run.

Freshman forward Jada Arrington led Meridian (9-8, 3-5) with 15 points and freshman guard Jordan Bell added 11 for the Lady Eagles.

JC will head to Utica Monday to take on Hinds Community College at 5:30 p.m.
