JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Firefighters from Jones County volunteer fire departments worked quickly to extinguish a fire off Red Holifield Road on Friday.

Glade, M&M and Powers volunteer fire departments responded to the fire in a flow back tank at one of Venture Oil’s working sites outside of Laurel, according to Dana Bumgardner with the Jones County Fire Council.

Bumgardner said the departments worked closely with Venture Oil’s staff and extinguished the blaze within 27 minutes of their arrival.

The departments used a foam trailer that carries 600 gallons of foam concentrate, applying foam at a rate of 1,000 gallons per minute to quickly put out the fire. Bumgardner said the foam trailer was purchased by the Jones County Fire Council to assist county firefighters.
