HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Forrest County is giving people a warm and safe place from the cold.
The FEMA Community Shelter is open and staffed by emergency management and the Salvation Army.
It’s offering 3 meals a day, along with cots and showers.
More than a dozen people stayed there Monday night.
“The temperature tonight is going to be in the low to mid-20′s, wind chill factors could be in the teens, so that’s the reason for us doing the long duration opening,” said Glen Moore, director of Forrest County Emergency Management.
The shelter will close at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
