FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - An artillery shell was found in Forrest County off of Luther Carter Road on Tuesday night.
Forrest County District 3 Supervisor Burkett Ross said Forrest County and Emergency Operations District officials checked the shell out.
Members of an explosive team from Fort Polk in Louisiana came to the scene to retrieve it, determining the two shells found were practice rounds.
That explosive team took the shells to dispose of safely.
Ross said it’s important if you come across any type of artillery shell to call your local authorities for safety concerns.
