ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) _ Freshman guard Keyara Jones made seven, 3-point baskets and scored 26 points to lead No. 8 Jones College to a recent 91-57 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges’ South Division victory over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
Jones scored 20 points in the first half as the Lady Bobcats (14-1, 6-0 South Division) grabbed a 17-point halftime lead. MGCCC (7-6, 4-3) hit a 3-pointer to open the second half, but 14 points was as close as the Lady Bulldogs would get to the Lady Bobcats.
Freshman guard Destiny Haymer scored 17 points and sophomore forward Maya Jones added 10 as the Lady Bobcats won their 12th consecutive game.
Sophomore guard Breannah McCullum led MGCCC with 15 points, while freshman forward Daphane White added 12.
The Lady Bobcats will wrap up the first half of South Division play when it travels to Wesson to take on Copiah-Lincoln Community College at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
