POPLARVILLE, MS. (WDAM) _ Poplarville Community College shook off sluggish start as the ninth-ranked Wildcats ran away to an 83-57 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges’ victory over Southwest Mississippi Community College.
With the win, PRCC (15-0, 6-0 South Division) remained the lone unbeaten National Junior College Athletic Association Division I men’s basketball program in the nation.
Sophomore guard Brandon Rachal led PRCC with 19 points, eights rebounds, five assists and a blocked shot.
Sophomore guard Cedric Brim Jr. added 18 points for the Wildcats and sophomore guard Eric Thornton Jr. posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds while handing out a game-high six assists.
PRCC also got 14 second-half points from freshman guard LaGarious White and sophomore center Chris Agbo hauled down 12 rebounds while scoring eight points.
Southwest (10-5, 2-4) was led by freshman guard Damian Dear with 14 points and freshman guard Roderick Smith with 11 points.
The Wildcats will visit Meridian Community College at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
