LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - For the first time ever, the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art is hosting an exhibit focusing on the work of Laurel native and world-renowned soprano Leontyne Price.
The exhibit, which opens on Tuesday, Jan. 29, features video of some of her performances at the Metropolitan Opera, as well as programs, costumes and other memorabilia.
It also includes artwork from a children’s book she wrote about her role in the opera “Aida.”
“She’s had a long career and has been one of the most wonderful opera singers of all time in our country, so this was the time to do it,” said Tommie Rodgers, registrar with the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art.
The exhibit runs through April 28.
