ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - Growing up in Ellisville, it was easy for Andrew Howard to root for Jones College baseball.
Howard gets the opportunity to play for his hometown Bobcats after signing a scholarship on Wednesday at South Jones.
The infielder batted .258 with 16 runs-batted-in as a junior, helping to lead the Braves to the Class 5A quarterfinals.
“I just decided to go to Jones because I’ve grown up watching ‘em my whole life,” Howard said. “I’ve always wanted to be a Bobcat and over the years they’ve become a great baseball program. They’ve won national championships and they have a great coaching staff. I’m a home body, I like to stay home. I like to stay close to my friends and family. [It] gives everybody the opportunity to come out and watch me.”
