HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) _ Junior point guard Shonte Hailes scored a season-high 23 points as the University of Southern Mississippi snapped a five-game losing streak with a 65-54 victory Thursday over visiting University of North Carolina-Charlotte.
The Lady Eagles (9-9, 1-4 Conference USA) outscored the Lady 49ers (10-7, 2-3) in each of the four quarters at Reed Green Coliseum to hand Charlotte its fourth loss in six games.
Hailes was perfect from the foul line, hitting 10-of-10 attempts, and added three assists and four steals.
Senior wing Megan Brown added 12 points and freshman center Kelcy Jones had nine points and seven rebounds.
Charlotte got 13 points, six assists and five rebounds from sophomore guard Octavia Jett-Wilson and 10 points and two assists from senior guard Laia Raventos.
The Lady Eagles will wrap up a two-game homestand at 4 p.m. Saturday, hosting Old Dominion University. The Lady Monarchs (12-5, 3-2) will carry a three-game winning streak into at Reed Green Coliseum.
